henley’s top ten
i hate the middle of the week. i actually dislike all weekdays…during football season. i watch two hours of tv during the week [the unit on tuesday and criminal minds on wednesday] yet i watch football all, i mean all, weekend long. if you could feed people televised football intravenously, i’d be first in line. so considering…
1) i love football, stats, and useless information that much
2) i really am that bored at work with nothing to do
3) i recently found out that some people are reading my blog and some of those that do read it actually enjoy it a little…
i though i would do a little something for all of my fellow football fans out there. i’m gonna list my top 10 teams in the ncaa. i might do this every week but only if there are big changes i.e. a top ten team loses to ole miss or something crazy like that where i would have to redraw my rankings. i may even talk a little bit about ‘em too. hang around. you never know what you might get from me, do ya?
don’t get mad or call me stupid based on my opinion, even though it’s probably right and you are wrong. >:)
so let’s get retarded in here. enjoy.
[1] ohio state – undoubtedly the best team in the nation. bar none. not one team in the field of the remaining 118 is in their league. sad but true. i hate ‘em as much as anybody else and get truly disgusted when college gameday [brought to you by the home depot no less] chooses to set up shop there at least 4 times per year. they need to be there once this year in my opinion. ohio state vs. michigan is THE [sorry caps but i have to make my point clear] game to see this year. if you can’t work your TiVO, i suggest you call the geek squad to get it set up. troy smith to teddy ginn is good for two scores per week. teddy even threw a touchdown score last week vs. indiana. he gets my heisman vote.
[2] michigan – top two teams in the nation are both undefeated and in the same conference. i honestly don’t think michigan will be able to topple the mighty buckeye’s but if super mario manningham is healthy and showps up ready to make some big plays, the seeds will have a run for their money. oh and don’t forget about their big D as well. they only allowed 41 yards on the ground to iowa. and yes, they are better than usc.
[3] west virginia – if you have a dominant ground game, and any decent offensive line, you will wn ballgames. the mountaineers have one of the best backs in the nation with steve slaton. oh and pat white has 15 combined touchdowns this year so far and only has 400 yeards lees rushing than slaton. what a combo. they’re undefeated as of now but they have louisville on the horizon. should be interesting to see the outcome on the ticker because i won’t watch it. seriously, who watches big east matchups? and yes, they are better than usc.
[4] texas – colt mccoy is coming into his own and really maturing before everyone’s eyes. they had a big win recently over the huskers in lincoln. i bet no one realizes he has 20 passing td’s so far either. am i right or am i right? he’s big time and texas knows it. he is their future and is no doubt picking up where VY left off. though he probably won’t see a national championship this year, he will more than likely wind up with a bcs bowl win. that’s right i said win. and yes, they are better than usc.
[5] usc – ugh. give me a break. you play in the worst major conference in the nation and you’re 6-0. whooptity-friggin’-who gives a ****? if matt leinart, reggie bush, lendale white and mike williams hadn’t recently played in pasadena and lit your torch, you wouldn’t be in national championship contention. 6-0 in the pac-10 is like dunking on your sister and sending the video in to youtube. it’s nothing to write home about. by the way you still have oregon, california and notre dame in three consecutive weekends. lemme know how that works out for ya. [most overrated team in the nation BESIDES rutgers. don't get me started on their no. 16 ranking. it'll be gone soon though. they still have to go through louisville and west virginia. enjoy it while it lasts, scarlet knights. scarlet...hahahaha!]
[6] louisville - don’t really have much to say. brian brohm is back and healthy but bush is gone for the season and needed badly. not to worry though. 10-1 and a bcs bid should do just fine, right? oh and they’ll beat the brakes off of rutgers. that’ll make my day.
[7] florida - i still say florida is a better team than auburn. they are too explosive and quick. their qb combo was perfect all season until the end of the fourth quarter vs. auburn. only real competition left is the seminloles merely becasue it’s an in-state rivalry game. georgia should prove to be an easy win. hell, ole miss almost beat georgia and vandy actually did. [by the way tim tebow will be the best player in college football until he leaves to go pro. mark my words.]
[8] auburn – tuberville says it best when he talks about a playoff. the sec will always be the third wheel until it is instated. until then though, the war eagles will have to win out and show up ready to play in atlanta for the conference championship. their only real competition left is the iron bowl in the middle of november. hopefully they win the west and we actually get to see a good game in the dome against the gators. arkansas is a fluke and should show it soon against the vols in neyland and them tigers in death valley.
[9] tennessee - the vol receivers are the real deal. they make ainge look like a pro though, along with every defense they have played against thus far. anything that happens from here on out is better than 5-6 though, right phil? you fat lard. they snuck by air force by one point and were manhandled by the tide until the last half of the final quarter. lsu is their biggest test and if i was a vol fan, i’d be a little worried about my one loss season thus far.
[10] notre dame - everyone expected clemson here, didn’t they? gimme a break. brady quinn to jeff samardzija is the most fun combo to watch in the nation unless you live in columbus. quinn has thrown 18 td’s despite his breakdown early on in the season. i seriously expect them to beat usc in pasadena and prove all the naysayers wrong in the process. i just think they are too good to end up with two losses. they play better in big games. their two biggest wins [according to margin of victory] thus far were against ranked teams; penn state and michigan! forget these come from behind fiascos. the irish are the real deal and no one wants to admit it. i don’t like ‘em either but give credit where it’s due. clemson? they lost to boston college and only play two ranked opponents. at least notre dame will end up with three.

[...] You have to put your hands together for these two teams. Undefeated, both in the top 5 in the BCS. Wow, who would have thought? West Virginia has a 14 game winning streak, which might I add, is a school record. WVU can move the football against anyone when they want? That’s for real! Louisville has a stellar defense along with a good offense; both prove they can pack a punch. Thursday night’s game will be a memorable one. Who will come out on top? [...]
